supmagnit is a tri-layered tablet that provides an effective and sustained release of magnesium.
Tablet composition:
a) a layer that dissolves quickly in the stomach, containing magnesium oxide, the rapid and complete dissolution of which is ensured by the acidic environment of the stomach;
b) medium fast-dissolving layer – mannitol, which contains a neutral hydrophilic agent (fiber or synthetic substance), which is capable of transporting water from the stomach environment as a result of capillary action. In addition, this layer prevents adverse interactions between the active layers during dissolution; mannitol absorbs and binds water and prepares the environment for the retarding layer, which is well soluble in the hydrogel matrix;
c) delayed release layer, which consists of rapidly dissolved magnesium hydroxide in the hydrogel matrix; this matrix is ​​formed after wetting with biological fluids because it contains a substance that creates a slightly acidic environment, such as citric acid, which slowly dissolves and allows magnesium to be released from the matrix in a dissolved form. This layer also contains a compound that can create an acidic microenvironment within the hydrogel, which in turn stimulates and enhances the flow of magnesium compounds (salt, oxide, and hydroxide) into the solution.
